How are documents and templates connected?

Fides creates documents based on templates:

You can create templates for any document.
A document in the Fides sense is any document that is either created in Fides, e.g. using a template, or uploaded to Fides.
Templates thus serve as a basis for making document creation with Fides more efficient.

If, for example, you need a power of attorney, you can proceed as follows:

Step 1: Create a template, see the FAQ: "How do I create a template".

Step 2: Create a document from the template. 
 

Go to the document dashboard and select "+Document" and "+ Create document draft" in the upper right corner.

Now you can create a document and select a template for it. Type the first letters of your template and select the template.

The next step will take you to the template generator where you can customize your template.
