What is a share class?

A share class refers to a group of shareholders that have the same rights and obligations according to the Articles of Association or the Shareholders Agreement (SHA). Companies may have several share classes whose rights and obligations differ.

Example:

The Summer GmbH has two share classes (Class June and Class July). The shareholders whose shares belong to the June class have voting rights. The shareholders whose shares belong to the July class have no voting rights.
